YAVAPAI COUNTY, Ariz. — A Prescott man has been convicted of sexually exploiting a child after his girlfriend found sexually explicit images on his phone.
On Feb. 23, Wilburn Smith, 66, was found guilty on 10 charges of sexual exploitation, Yavapai County Attorney Dennis McGrane said in a news release.

“Persons who sexualize young children have no place in society," McGrane said.
McGrane praised Prescott police for their work in the case against Smith.
Examination of Smith's phone by a forensic expert revealed hundreds of explicit images of children with some appearing to be "well under" the age of 10, the news release said.
"Parents in Yavapai County can rest assured that my office will vigorously prosecute anyone who seeks to victimize our kids,” McGrane said.
Smith is scheduled to be sentenced on March 25. He faces a minimum of 100 years in prison due to the young ages of the children in the images.
