PHOENIX — This Wednesday, a Valley woman stopped a suspected attempted motorcycle theft that was happening in broad daylight... Or should we say broad moonlight.
Laveen resident Eric Smith shared with 12News security footage from his home that shows two men trying to wrestle his motorcycle to a red Dodge Durango parked outside.
"Two males, appear to be white. The heavier of the two has large tattoos on his left arm, a gold wedding band, and apparently does not own a belt," Smith said in a post to Facebook.
And that apparent lack of a belt meant the would-be thief was caught with his pants down. He was seen struggling, and failing, to keep his pants up while moving the bike.
Fortunately, Smith's wife, Krystal "just happened to be working from home yesterday," and banged on the window, startling the men away from the motorcycle. The man's losing battle against gravity continued as he was filmed running back to the Durango.
"She's the superhero!" Smith told us, "We've been calling them the butt crack bandits."
Smith asked on Facebook that people in the Phoenix area keep an eye out for the vehicle and call 911 referencing report number 202401191411 if they see it.
The attempted theft happened in a Laveen neighborhood near 51st Avenue and Baseline Road. Images of the vehicle and suspects are posted below.
