An 18-year-old woman was missing for a week. Then a cleaning crew found her body in a Phoenix office building

The woman was identified as Jaelynn Alston. Authorities are searching for a person of interest in her case.

PHOENIX — The body of an 18-year-old woman who has been missing for a week was found in an office building in Phoenix. 

A cleaning crew found the body inside the building near 43rd Avenue and Indian School Road around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The woman was identified on Friday as Jaelynn Alston. She was reported missing with the Phoenix Police Department on Jan. 9. 

Detectives found "extensive injuries to multiple locations" of her body. 

Investigators believe Alston died under suspicious circumstances. They are investigating it as a homicide. 

PREVIOUSLY:

A person of interest has been determined in this case, but police have not identified or located him. 

The person of interest is a man who leased out the room where Alston's body was found. 

No other information was immediately released.
