Woman dead after being shot at, crashing while driving in Phoenix

The shooting and subsequent crash happened near 19th Avenue and Baseline Road shortly after midnight.

PHOENIX — A woman has died after she was shot at and crashed while driving on a Phoenix roadway overnight, city police said. Homicide detectives are working to learn more about what led up to the incident.

The shooting happened near 19th Avenue and Baseline Road shortly after midnight, officials said. As officers arrived on the scene of a crash, they found a woman dead inside a crashed car. She's been identified as 30-year-old Emma Damian.

Officers learned a second vehicle was following the victim on 19th Avenue and shooting at her. Damian then drove off the roadway and hit a cement irrigation container.

It's currently unclear if the woman was struck during the shooting. Officials are working to determine how she died.

The program shares unsolved felony case information in multiple ways, including TV, radio and social media. 

Anyone who has information on a crime or recognizes a suspect described by the program is asked to call 480-948-6377, go to the program's website online or download the Silent Witness app to provide a tip. The identity of anyone who submits a tip is kept anonymous. 

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case. 

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
