Man 'pinned' between two vehicles after hit-and-run crash in Surprise, police say

A man was standing in front of a parked car when the woman hit the car, pinning him between it and another parked vehicle, police said.

SURPRISE, Ariz. — A woman was arrested on several felony charges after police say she left the scene of a crash that pinned a man between two vehicles.

Law enforcement officials in Surprise said the woman, who has been identified as Beth Strong, 43, was driving on a residential road when she hit the rear end of a parked car. A man, who was standing in front of the parked car, was then pinned between the car and another vehicle that was parked on the street, Surprise police said.

Strong then fled the scene "without any attempt to render aid as required," but was found a short time later at her nearby residence, police said.

Officers said they found a half-empty bottle of vodka in the glove compartment of her vehicle and "a strong odor of alcohol" was coming from Strong. She was arrested and booked on charges including aggravated assault causing disfigurement, leaving the scene of an accident with injury and resisting arrest.

The victim suffered leg injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
