GILBERT, Ariz. — A Gilbert woman has been arrested in connection to her husband's death after his body was found wrapped in plastic sheets underneath a bed, according to authorities.
The Gilbert Police Department said 51-year-old Ivanka Koleva is facing a second-degree murder charge after her husband's body was found in their home earlier this month.
Officers were doing a welfare check when the body of 49-year-old Stefan Kolev was discovered in his home near Guadalupe and Recker roads on Nov. 22.
Court records show Kolev had sustained six gunshots wounds and one stab wound to his leg.
Investigators observed signs that someone had apparently tried to clean the home before Kolev's body was discovered. Blood spatter was noticed on one of the home's walls and bullet shell casings were located on the bedroom floor, court records show.
Witnesses told police that Ivanka had been acting "erratic" recently and her statements were "not making sense." The wife had allegedly purchased a firearm and cartridges consistent with the shell casings recovered from the crime scene, records show.

After an investigation was conducted and evidence gathered at the scene was analyzed, police said they found probable cause for the arrest of Koleva. She was booked into the Maricopa County jail on Nov. 27.
