Valley woman tried selling her car and ended up getting robbed at gunpoint

Mesa police have arrested two suspects accused of stealing a Valley mother's car at gunpoint.

MESA, Ariz. — Two suspects have been arrested by Mesa police after they allegedly robbed a woman who was attempting to sell her car.

On Jan. 16, the woman had agreed to meet up at a Wells Fargo Bank in Mesa with a potential buyer of a vehicle she had listed for sale on OfferUp.

While discussing the car's price, police said a man appeared and pointed a gun at the woman, demanding she hand over the car keys.

The woman and her 7-year-old daughter fled from the parking lot as the two suspects drove away in the victim's car.

Police said the woman provided the phone number that was used by the person claiming to be interested in buying her car, which was traced back to 29-year-old Joseph Toledo.

Officers later found the stolen vehicle unoccupied at Banner Deer Valley Hospital. Toledo was found checking in with his parole officer at the Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation & Reentry, police said.

Officers also found 23-year-old Iridiane Garcia seated in a car waiting for Toledo. Police allegedly found the victim's car keys in Garcia's purse along with the gun used to rob her.

Both suspects were booked into the Maricopa County jail on pending charges of car theft and armed robbery. Public records show Toledo has previously served time in prison for various charges.
