PHOENIX — A man has been arrested in connection to the fatal shooting in central Phoenix on Friday, police said.
On Dec. 15, just after midnight, Phoenix police officers responded to a local hospital where a woman who was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds was dropped off. The victim, later identified as 34-year-old Ebony Phelps, was pronounced deceased at the hospital by medical staff.
Police officers found that the fatal shooting occurred at an apartment near 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road in central Phoenix. When officers got to the complex, they contained an apartment they believed to be involved in the incident, police said.
A search warrant was served, but no one was found in the apartment. The apartment did show "obvious signs" of a shooting, police said. Detectives investigated and learned a possible location for the suspect, later identified as 36-year-old Cori Braggs
Braggs was taken into custody and booked into Maricopa County Sheriff's Office jail, police said.
