Tucson woman arrested for murder of roommate, charged with concealing body

Police say an apartment complex employee smelled a foul odor coming from that apartment for several weeks and called police when it continued.

TUCSON, Ariz. — A Tucson woman is in custody and being charged with second degree murder and concealment of a body after police found a man dead in her apartment.

According to police, the victim was the roommate of 40-year-old Mishelle Halstead, who police arrested.

According to police, several weeks ago, an apartment complex employee smelled a foul odor coming from Halstead's apartment and gave the apartment a notice about the odor. 

The same employee smelled the odor again this morning and contacted Halstead at the apartment and then called 911.

Officers and fire personnel arrived at the apartment located near Dodge Road and Grant Road and found an adult male deceased with obvious signs of trauma.

Detectives with the Tucson Police Homicide Unit responded to continue the investigation arrested Halstead and booked her into the Pima County Jail.
