PHOENIX - By the time suspected murderer Dwight Jones was confronted at a Scottsdale hotel Monday, police say he had already killed six people.
Jones was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside his hotel room, putting an end to the four-day killing spree that spanned through north Phoenix, Scottsdale and Fountain Hills.
Police say Jones is responsible for the shooting deaths of forensic psychiatrist Dr. Steven Pitt, two paralegals and a therapist. He was later connected to two victims found dead in a Fountain Hills home Monday.
Scottsdale Police Department provided a detailed timeline of the investigation and Jones' killings:

At the time, Scottsdale police did not release a suspect description. But a connection to Pitt's murder was made.
According to Scottsdale PD, the Phoenix PD contacted them early in the investigation regarding the possible connection.
Police said ballistic evidence collected at both crime scenes "confirmed" the same weapon was used to kill Pitt, Sharp and Anderson.
The two departments joined forces in the investigation.
Saturday, June 2
Dr. Marshall Levine was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound inside his office at 8010 E. Morgan Trail in Scottsdale.
Ballistic evidence from this scene was a match to the other two, linking Levine's death to the same weapon used to killed the previous victims.
