TEMPE, Ariz. — One person is in the hospital after shots were fired into their vehicle during a road rage shooting in Tempe, according to police.
The incident happened Sunday night around 6:30 p.m. near 48th Street and Southern Avenue, according to Tempe Police Department.
Police said the incident started with a verbal altercation between the occupants of two vehicles.
During the altercation, the driver of one of the vehicles fired three shots into the second vehicle, with the driver of the second vehicle was hit in the shoulder. That person has non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Another passenger in the second vehicle was hit with broken glass during the incident.
Police are asking everyone to avoid the area.
