Alleged 'Gilbert Goon' pleaded guilty to 2 counts of aggravated assault

Gage Garrison, 19, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault.

MESA, Ariz. — A suspect charged in multiple teen violence incidents in the East Valley has pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault.

Gage Garrison, 19, was arrested on Jan. 24 for his involvement in an aggravated assault at a parking garage near Vaughn Avenue, which occurred on December 3, 2022.

Garrison was also one of several suspects involved in an assault on a teen victim at a party back on December 17, 2022.

Garrison and Cody Kostoryz, 18, were identified as being part of a group of teens who ambushed a juvenile while he was attending a girl's birthday party.

Court records show the group of suspects brushed past the homeowner and walked onto the property uninvited.

Videos capturing the assault allegedly showed the party crashers restraining the victim as they took turns punching and kicking him.

Brass knuckles were used in the attack, police said.

The suspects then fled after other party guests attempted to stop the assault, records show.

The victim told investigators he was targeted by the suspects because he had "stood up for a friend at school."

The state alleges that Garrison is linked to the so-called "Gilbert Goons" who are tied to several other teen violence investigations.

Sentencing in Garrison's case is set for September 26.
