Gilbert teen violence suspect indicted for several drug-related felonies

The 18-year-old has been charged with Class 2 felonies for alleged crimes connected to a traffic stop conducted last March in Gilbert.

GILBERT, Ariz. — One of the teens who has been implicated in acts of violence committed in the East Valley has recently been indicted for drug-related felonies.

A Maricopa County grand jury has charged 18-year-old Kyler Renner with five counts of possessing dangerous drugs for sale, a Class 2 felony. He's also been charged with using electronic communications to facilitate a drug sale, a Class 4 felony.

The indictment states that Renner is accused of possessing fentanyl, cannabis, alprazolam and psilocyn.

The Maricopa County Attorney's Office said the charges stem from a traffic stop conducted in Gilbert on March 29, 2023.

Renner was recently indicted for an assault charge in relation to an incident reported at a parking garage near Gilbert and Elliot roads on Dec. 3, 2022. 

The defendant is one of several teens arrested over the last few months for various incidents involving violent attacks reported throughout the East Valley.

Prosecutors said they have also recently obtained indictments against Cody Kostoryz, 18, and Gage Garrison, 19, for their alleged involvement in an assault reported at a Gilbert birthday party.
