Gilbert police chief announces 10th arrest possibly connected to teen violence

Chief Michael Soelberg said so far this year, Gilbert police have made 10 arrests with more coming

GILBERT, Arizona — The Gilbert Town Council chambers were once again packed with people demanding action and accountability involving teen violence in their town.

During public comment, many residents called out the town council and Gilbert Police department for not doing enough to stop the teen violence and arrest the people responsible.

However, chief of police Michael Soelberg said they are making progress and announced a new arrest that was just made Tuesday morning.

Tyler Strocchia, 22, is charged with two counts of sexual assault of a minor and is "alleged to have threatened a juvenile victim in a separate and active Gilbert PD investigation," Gilbert police officials said.

It brings the total number of arrests to 10 since the start of 2024.

"There will be more,” Chief Soelberg said.

12News obtained some names and ages regarding those 10 suspects. Police said the suspects are believed to be involved in four assault investigations.

In the first week of January, police arrested four suspects accused of assaulting and robbing an adult at a Gilbert church parking lot near Greenfield and Guadalupe roads last November, police said in a statement to 12News.

Two suspects were not named because they are teenagers but police did reveal that they are 16 and 17 years old. The other two suspects are McCade O'Conner, 19, and Noah Pennington, 18.

Noah's older brother Jacob Pennington was recently arrested by the Pinal County Sheriff's Office for an assault that was caught on camera and shared on social media.

Gilbert Police said they re-arrested a teenager involved in an assault at a Gilbert home back in December, 2022.

Four people, including two 16-year-olds were arrested for the violent beating of a teenager at a Gilbert In-N-Out back in August. Christopher Fantastic, 18, and Aris Arredondo, 18, were also arrested and charged with aggravated assault and aggravated robbery.

Both Fantastic and Arredondo were recently indicted according to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.

Chief Soelberg also announced he will be holding another press conference regarding teen assault investigation this Thursday.
