PHOENIX — A teen is recovering in the hospital Friday after an incident at a Phoenix home left her with a gunshot wound, the Phoenix Police Department said.
On June 30 around 5:30 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call at a house near 19th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard. When they arrived on scene, police said they located the teenage girl with a gunshot wound.
The girl, who has not yet been identified, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
Police learned the shooting suspect was a 22-year-old man who was dating the girl and left the scene before authorities arrived. Police said the man returned to the scene after the girl's parent called the suspect. He was taken into custody without incident.
Details on what led up to the shooting are still under investigation.
