PHOENIX — A suspect has been arrested in the shooting death of a man near downtown Phoenix Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Phoenix police said about 1:40 p.m., a Department of Public Safety Trooper was patrolling the area near 7th Avenue and McDowell Road when he was alerted to a shooting nearby.
The trooper saw a man fall to the ground and another man running away. As more officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Phoenix firefighters transported the man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police said officers began searching the neighborhood for the outstanding suspect. Terrence Felder, 35, was located and detained.
The case was turned over to detectives, who determined there was enough evidence to arrest and book Felder into jail for attempted homicide.
Residents in this neighborhood were temporarily asked to stay locked in their homes during the police investigation.
