Suspect identified in double homicide at Avondale beauty salon

Avondale police are still investigating what led up to the shooting near Central Avenue and Madden Drive Sunday.

AVONDALE, Ariz. — Police are investigating a double shooting in Avondale Sunday at a beauty salon that left two people dead.

The Avondale Police Department said around 3:06 p.m., a witness called police to report a person had been shot near Central Avenue and Madden Drive. 

When officers arrived at Ema's Barber and Beauty Salon, they found an adult male and adult female suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Police said both victims were pronounced deceased on scene.

Jose Jesus Rodriguez Parra, the salon's co-owner, has been identified as a suspect in the double homicide. 

Police say Parra allegedly came to the salon, shot his wife and the other man. The victims' names have not been disclosed.

Police said the shooting suspect was located and taken into custody.

Parra has been booked into jail on two counts of first-degree murder and aggravated assault. 

Authorities are investigating what led up to the shooting.
