MARICOPA, Ariz. — One man was arrested following a standoff with the Pinal County Regional SWAT Team Tuesday.
Officers tried to pull over a driver in the area of John Wayne Parkway and Honeycutt Avenue just before noon, according to the Maricopa Police Department.
The driver ran from officers and barricaded himself inside a home in the 45000 block of Morning View Lane, officers said.
The suspect, later identified as Stephen Meriwether, 31, had hidden himself in the attic and later in an upstairs bedroom.
Members of the SWAT team were called in to assist with negotiations which lasted for at least two hours, according to police.
The SWAT team then used chemicals to get Meriwether to leave the home and he was taken into custody around 6:30 p.m.
Meriwether is facing charges for unlawful flight and pending warrants.
