Goodyear police arrest suspect in alleged sexual assault at Super Target

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — A suspect in an alleged sexual assault at a store in Goodyear is in custody, the city's police department said.

Goodyear police responded to an assault call in the parking lot of a Super Target on Nov. 12. While investigating, police said the victim told officers they were sexually assaulted and choked during the incident.

The specific location of the incident wasn't immediately released.

Officers investigated and found the crime scene, the victim's vehicle and forensic evidence. The Special Victim Unit also investigated the incident. Detectives developed probable cause for arrest and took the suspect into custody on Dec. 4.

The suspect is being interviewed and is facing multiple felony charges, including:

  • Aggravated assault - strangulation 
  • Aggravated assault - substantial disfigurement
  • Aggravated assault - restrained
  • Sexual assault
  • Enticement/prostitution 

Goodyear police did not offer any further details outside of posts to the department's social media platforms, but did confirm to 12News that the incident was "not random."
