PHOENIX — Police have detained a suspect who's accused of sexually assaulting a 70-year-old office employee in a building located near Chase Field.
Brian K. Chuchuney, 30, was taken into custody Sunday after the front desk worker of a building in downtown Phoenix reported being raped by a man who had asked to enter the lobby to use the bathroom.
Court records show the woman was reportedly working alone when a man had knocked on the window. The woman had mistaken him for a resident of the building and when he approached the front desk, the man had asked for some water and permission to use the bathroom.
The woman told police she walked over to get the man some water and he followed behind her, records show.
The suspect then allegedly pushed her against the reception desk and pulled her clothes off, which was captured on the building's security camera.
The man then forced the woman into a nearby storage room. A struggled ensued and the woman told police the suspect sexually assaulted her.
Her loud screaming eventually resulted in the suspect fleeing from the office and the woman called her husband for help, court records show.
Chuchuney was apprehended later after a short foot pursuit. He denied involvement.
The suspect was booked into jail and is facing charges of sexual assault, sexual abuse and aggravated assault. Public records appear to show that Chuchuney has previously spent time in the Arizona Department of Corrections.
