Man dead after shooting in south Phoenix, police say

The shooting happened just after 10 p.m. on Sunday near 15th Avenue and Maricopa Street, Phoenix police said.

PHOENIX — A man is dead following a shooting in south Phoenix late Sunday night, city police said. The shooting is still under investigation.

Phoenix police have identified the victim as 38-year-old Isaiah Petite.

According to early reports, the shooting happened around 10:05 p.m. near 15th Avenue and Maricopa Street. When officers arrived in the area, they found a man, now identified as Petite, with at least one gunshot wound, police said.

First responders took Petite to the hospital where he later died of his injuries.

The area was temporarily closed for the investigation but has since reopened.

What led up to the shooting is still under investigation, and police have not disclosed whether or not any suspects have been identified.

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case. 

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
