GLENDALE, Ariz. - The U.S. Marshals Service captured Jamal Devonte Coburn in Glendale on Wednesday. He has been allegedly on the run since a late-August murder in South Carolina.
Coburn, 26, had an arrest warrant out of West Columbia, South Carolina, wanted by the Lexington County Sheriff's Department in an Aug. 24 fatal shooting of Corey Jamison.
Coburn was confirmed to be at the scene by witnesses, who say he brandished a gun and fired at Jamison. It's alleged Coburn fled after the shooting.
On Sept. 17, the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in Lexington, South Carolina, asked for the assistance of the Arizona WANTED Violent Offender Task Force in locating and apprehending Coburn.
The U.S. Marshals call it an "intense manhunt" that ensued leading to an apartment near Bethany Home Rd. and 67th Ave.
Coburn was identified by members of the Arizona WANTED task force on Sept. 19 and Deputy U.S. Marshals and Task Force Officers approached the apartment to take Coburn into custody.
Coburn was booked into Maricopa County Jail and he awaits extradition to South Carolina.
