2 dead after break-in leads to shooting in Peoria

Police now say a break-in at a home near 75th and Peoria Avenues led to a shooting that killed a man and woman. And it does not appear to be a random act of violence

PEORIA, Ariz. — Peoria Police have released updated information on a shooting that left two people dead at a home near 75th and Peoria Avenues early Saturday morning. 

Police say the shooting happened after someone broke into the home and added that this does not appear to be a random act. They also confirmed that the victims were married. 

Officers are still searching for the shooter and are working to identify all who were involved in this shooting.

Two people are dead following a shooting in Peoria, police said. 

Peoria police officers responded to a home near 75th and Peoria avenues for a shooting call at 4:12 a.m. on Saturday. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man inside the residence with gunshot wounds. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. 

A woman was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later was also pronounced dead, police said.

Detectives are conducting interviews with neighbors and family members to determine what led up to the shooting. Police said no arrests have been made yet.

Police did not release the identities of the two people who died.
