PHOENIX — One man is dead and another is in the hospital after a burglary call in north Phoenix ended in a shooting, city police said.
According to early reports, officers were called to a home near 35th Avenue and Bell Road just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday for reports of a burglary after the caller "possibly heard something in their backyard."
When police arrived, they found two men who had been shot. First responders took one to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and the other was pronounced dead on the scene.
The deceased man was described as being in his late 50s by police.
The hospitalized man is now in stable condition and detectives are working to learn more about the shooting.
Authorities haven't released either man's identity at this time.

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case.
Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
