2 dead after altercation leads to shootout at convenience store in Phoenix

The shooting happened near 17th Avenue and Van Buren Street in Phoenix.

PHOENIX — Two men are dead after shooting at each other during an altercation at a Phoenix convenience store, according to the Phoenix Police Department. 

Phoenix police officers were called to the area of 17th Avenue and Van Buren Street around 12:30 a.m. for reports of a shooting.

The initial investigation showed that 22-year-old Jesus Erlandson-Gonzales Junior "instigated an argument" with 20-year-old Andres Wilkes which escalated into a shootout. 

Both men died at the scene.

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case. 

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
