SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — A Scottsdale man who is accused of uploading sexually explicit images and videos of children to Reddit was already on felony pretrial release for a similar offense, according to court documents obtained by 12News.
Rylan Holland, 22, was arrested after the Scottsdale Police Department received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about images uploaded to the social media site Reddit.
Reddit was able to give officers the email address and username associated with the uploads, court documents said. Both were associated with Holland, documents said.
Reddit gave officers the registered IP address and the upload IP address associated with the illegal images, which matched a Verizon Wireless and Cox Communications account. Officers recognized Holland's name on the account, as he was charged with similar crimes in December 2023, court documents said. He used a slightly different username in that case, according to officials.
Scottsdale police served Cox Communications with a search warrant to get the address from the account used to upload the image. That address matched Holland's parents' home, court documents said.
Other disturbing messages were found through the IP log related to trading explicit material with others. Other messages showed he allegedly had "a clear sexual interest in children," court documents said.
Holland is also accused of uploading similar content to X, formerly known as Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram.
Officers served a search warrant on Holland's home and vehicle. They found the cell phone involved in the alleged crimes in his possession, court documents said. Several sexually explicit images and videos of young children were allegedly found on the phone, the court documents said.
Scottsdale police requested that Holland's bond be revoked from the December 2023 charges and that he be held in custody without release. A judge agreed and Holland is now being held without bail. He is being charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in addition to his previous charges.
His next court date is May 9.
