Same suspect allegedly connected to car death, shooting and dead body found in Phoenix residence

The 37-year-old man was arrested this week by Phoenix police after he was connected to three violent incidents that occurred within the last month.

PHOENIX — A 37-year-old man was arrested this week after Phoenix police allegedly connected him to three violent incidents reported within the last month that resulted in two deaths.

Richard Rodriguez is facing multiple felony charges after investigators linked him to a collision that killed 55-year-old David Aguirre on Jan. 11 near 43rd and Dunlap avenues.

A witness told investigators they saw Aguirre yelling at a subject before he was run over by a truck in a parking lot, court records show.

About a week after Aguirre's death, a man sustained a gunshot wound near 25th and Vista avenues on Jan. 23 and was taken to the hospital. He later identified Rodriguez as the suspect who shot him, records show.

Rodriguez has also been connected to a separate incident involving a dead body found in a residence on Feb. 2 near 28th Street and Greenway Parkway. The deceased sustained traumatic injuries and was later identified as 62-year-old Thomas Ogden.

Neighbors allegedly identified Rodriguez as a subject who was seen entering and exiting the deceased man's apartment in the days before the victim's body was discovered by a family member.

Investigators later learned there was a correlation between the shell casings recovered from the Jan. 23 shooting and the Feb. 2 crime scene, court records show.

Rodriguez has been booked into jail. It's not yet clear on exactly what types of charges he's facing for the separate incidents.
