QUARTZSITE, Ariz. — An elementary school teacher in Quartzsite is accused of sexual conduct with a minor.
Garrett Sweetland, 24, was arrested and booked Monday for felony sexual conduct with a minor, police say.
The investigation began on Friday after the department received a tip about a teacher and student being involved in an inappropriate relationship, police say.
Investigators allege Sweetland, who teaches 3rd and 4th grade in the Quartzsite Elementary School District, was having an inappropriate relationship with a minor.
Police described the relationship as "boyfriend and girlfriend" in a statement regarding the investigation on Facebook.
"The two had been engaged in sexual acts on multiple occasions during the duration of the alleged relationship," according to investigators.
Sweetland faces 10 counts of felony sexual conduct with a minor.
