PHOENIX — A Phoenix police officer has been hospitalized following a fight with a suspect, according to authorities.
The Phoenix Police Department said the incident happened Monday evening before 6 p.m. near 27th Avenue and Camelback Road.
Police said officers were called out about a fight involving a man who was possibly armed with a gun. Officers arrived and found a man who matched the description of the individual believed to be involved. Officers attempted to detain the man but he fought with officers until he was handcuffed.
According to police, during the fight, one of the responding officers was injured. He was taken to the hospital for treatment by the Phoenix Fire Department. The officer's injuries are non-life-threatening.
The suspect was taken into custody. He is facing multiple felony charges, according to police.

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case.
Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
