PHOENIX — A man is accused of breaking into a Phoenix home Monday morning before killing his ex and another man.
The shooting happened in a neighborhood near Loop 101 and Cave Creek Road around 7:15 a.m. Police said Steven Love-Mason, 27, knocked on the door and forced his way inside when someone answered.
At that point, investigators said Love-Mason shot and killed 28-year-old Trystan Benallie and 23-year-old Martin Louis.
Love-Mason allegedly fled the scene but was later arrested by Phoenix police.
Investigators said Love-Mason and Benallie used to be partners.
Police said witnesses identified Love-Mason as the suspect. One witness said they saw Love-Mason listening outside of Benallie's apartment with his ear to the door.
Another said he asked the witness to knock on Benallie's door. Once Benallie answered, officials said Love-Mason forced his way inside. The witness reported hearing multiple gunshots inside.
A 3-year-old child was found inside of the apartment when officers responded.
