MESA, Ariz. — A man is dead in Mesa and the city's police are investigating the incident as a homicide.
The Mesa Police Department identified the man as 23-year-old Gavin Wadzinski.
Around 1 a.m. Sunday, police received a 911 call reporting a man "down and unresponsive" near Thomas and Recker roads. When officers got to the scene, they found a man with what appeared to be a gunshot wound, who was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Investigators are at the scene and treating the incident as a homicide, police said. The investigation indicates the incident is an isolated occurrence and no other victims were found after officers searched the surrounding area, police said.
