'You're dead to me': Man allegedly confessed to murdering mother, stepfather in Peoria

Police said the fatal shooting happened Monday afternoon near 75th Avenue and Jomax Road.

PEORIA, Ariz. — A man has allegedly confessed to murdering his mother and stepfather at a Peoria residence Monday afternoon, records show.

The Peoria Police Department said two people were fatally shot at a home near 75th Avenue and Jomax Road.

Court records have identified the shooting suspect as 33-year-old Zacchary Sumrall, who allegedly admitted to shooting both victims.

The suspect allegedly told police that an argument had occurred about how Sumrall was not contributing to the household. Sumrall became angry and told one of the victims, "You're dead to me."

The suspect was then allegedly told to pack up and leave the family's house, court records show. Sumrall allegedly told police he responded be retrieving a handgun from his bedroom and shooting his mother and stepfather.

The suspect then called 911 to report the shooting. Sumrall was booked into the Maricopa County jail and is facing murder charges.

Police said the deceased victims have been identified as 57-year-old Tammi Keckler and 60-year-old William Keckle.
