SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Several law enforcement officers descended on the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall, near Camelback and N Scottsdale Roads, just after 8 p.m. which alarmed some shoppers in the area.
Turns out, a parking garage on the mall's property was locked down while officers searched for the driver of a stolen vehicle who fled into the parking lot after a short police chase, according to Phoenix police officials.
The stolen car was first spotted in the area of 24th Street and Thomas Road. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver fled, officials said. Police backed off the car and later tracked it down to the Scottsdale mall. The area was locked down while police searched for the suspect, who was eventually detained.
The lockdown at the garage is over, police said. The identity of the driver of the stolen car was not released.
