Police arrest man who shot, killed man while mishandling gun at party

Police say the suspect and victim were mishandling the gun went it went off and the victim was shot and died from his injuries.

PHOENIX — Police say they made an arrest after a shooting at a party early Saturday morning left one man dead.

Officers got calls of a shooting near McDowell Road and 63rd Avenue around 3:25 a.m. and found a man with a gunshot wound inside an apartment. 

Police say 29-year-old Fausto Francisco Galindo-Gonzalez and the victim were mishandling the gun when it went off.

The victim was identified as 23-year-old Jose A. Sanchez-Gamboa. 

Galindo-Gonzalez was arrested and booked for manslaughter and prohibited possessor. The investigation is ongoing.
