GOODYEAR, Ariz. — The 18-year-old high school student found dead in a Goodyear residence Wednesday was allegedly shot by her stepfather, police said Friday.
Aaliyah M. Anderson, a student at Desert Edge High School, was allegedly killed by her stepfather, 41-year-old John D. Castro, before Castro fatally shot himself.
Their bodies were found by family members who then called 911. Police were dispatched to the home near Sarival Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road at around 4:30 p.m.
"It is still not completely clear as to what caused Castro to resort to this violent act and investigators will continue to search for more information," Goodyear police wrote in a statement.
