Suspect seriously hurt after being shot by law enforcement officers in eastern Arizona

The shooting happened near the intersection of Hilltop Drive and Larson Road in Lakeside on Saturday afternoon. Here are the latest details.

PINETOP-LAKESIDE, Ariz. — A man is in a hospital with life-threatening injuries after a shooting involving law enforcement officers in Lakeside on Saturday, according to the Navajo County Sheriff's Office

NCSO says deputies were called to a home on the 3300 block of Hilltop Drive at about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday due to a disorderly person. When a deputy got to the scene, the suspect immediately shot at them and hit the deputy's car. That deputy was able to retreat safely and the suspect ran into a home and continued to shoot. 

The White Mountain Special Response Team was called in to help. The special response team exchanged gunfire with the suspect and shot them. The suspect was then taken into custody and taken to a nearby hospital. The suspect has life-threatening injuries and will be flown to a hospital in Phoenix for treatment.  

No law enforcement officers were hurt. The suspect has not been identified.
