PHOENIX — A 32-year-old woman, who was allegedly carrying a large knife and banging on doors at an apartment complex, has been hospitalized with "critical injuries," according to the Phoenix police department.
Phoenix Police Sgt. Mayra Reeson said officers were called to the area of 3400 North 12th Place, near the intersection of 12th Street and Osborn Road, at about 3:20 p.m. due to a report of a woman walking around an apartment complex and banging on doors while holding a large knife.

The caller believed this was the result of a domestic dispute, according to Reeson.
Officers from the Mountain View Precinct found the woman at the top of a set of stairs and started giving her commands to drop the knife. She did not listen to the officers and walked toward them while holding the knife, which is when one of the officers used a 40mm launcher and hit the woman multiple times.
After this, the suspect still refused to drop the knife, according to police, and stood back up and started walking toward the officers again.
After that, one officer shot at the woman while another officer used their Taser on the woman. This caused the woman to fall and drop the knife.
The officers then took the woman into custody before beginning to render aid to her injuries, Reeson said. The woman was taken to a hospital with critical injuries but has been stabilized.
The knife that was being held by the woman was found at the scene, police said.
No one other than the woman was hurt.
Reeson said it is too early in the department's investigation to know whether drugs or alcohol played a role in this incident.
This is a developing story and more details will be added as they are made available.
