PHOENIX — Phoenix police have arrested a suspect who's believed to be involved in the deadly shooting of a teenage boy on Friday night in north Phoenix.
Police have identified the victim in the shooting as 17-year-old Hery Almeida-Garcia.
Officers responded to a shooting call near 16th Street and Union Hills Drive at about 8:48 p.m. and found the teen suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police said the victim was with friends at a park when they were confronted by the shooter, who ran away after the shooting.
Police said the teen was rushed to the hospital but did not survive his injuries.
Court records show an 18-year-old suspect was taken into custody on Monday in relation to Almeida-Garcia's death.

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case.
Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
