PHOENIX — Authorities in Phoenix are investigating a single-car crash on the U.S. 60 early Monday that stemmed from an alleged shooting.
The Phoenix Police Department said officers responded to a welfare check in the area of 48th Street and Baseline Road just before 5 a.m.
The caller reportedly heard gunshots and saw a vehicle leave the area.
During their investigation, a single-car crash on the U.S. 60 and Dobson Road reported by Arizona Department of Public Safety had the same vehicle description as the one that reportedly left the area.
The driver of that car was driving a woman to the hospital for a gunshot injury when the crash occurred.
Both the driver, a 28-year-old man, and the 25-year-old woman were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
During the police investigation, both the victim and driver were uncooperative and declined to assist in prosecution.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The investigation is ongoing.
