PHOENIX — A suspect has been detained for allegedly killing a young man in North Phoenix Tuesday night.
Dylan Forbes, 24, died from a fatal gunshot wound at about 9 p.m. near 60th Street and Acoma Drive, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Forbes had been riding in a vehicle with 24-year-old Cameron Drake when the two men got into an argument. The dispute resulted in Drake allegedly firing a fatal shot at Forbes and then leaving the scene, police said.
A witness told police Drake and Forbes were arguing about boxing before the fight escalated to gun violence, court records show.
Drake was later apprehended and told police he allegedly shot the victim in self-defense. Police said there were inconsistencies in the suspect's statements, resulting in Drake getting booked into jail on a charge of second-degree murder.
