Phoenix man accused of stomping puppy to death

A surveillance camera reportedly captured the suspect abusing the animal, records show.

PHOENIX — A Phoenix man was arrested Monday after he was allegedly recorded on camera stomping and hitting a puppy, court records show.

Anthony Reynolds, 37, was taken into custody after the residents of an apartment complex near 19th Avenue and Indian School Road reported finding a dead dog. 

Surveillance cameras allegedly captured Reynolds "aggressively" stomp on the dog multiple times and then struck the animal with a heavy wine bottle, records show.

Phoenix police observed the deceased animal and observed injuries to its head and mouth.

Reynolds allegedly told police the dog tried to attack him so he had to defend himself against the puppy. The suspect is facing a charge of animal cruelty.
