PEORIA, Ariz. — The Peoria Police Department said a man has been arrested after a woman was pushed into traffic and killed Monday night. The incident happened during a physical assault, according to police.
A vehicle hit the victim, Katrinna Gutierrez, 30, after she went into the roadway during the altercation. Gutierrez died on scene.
Police said Lorenzo Colorado, 30, has been arrested in connection to the incident.
Colorado is facing domestic violence related charges including second degree murder, manslaughter, endangerment and assault.
Police said the incident is being investigated as a homicide.
The man fighting with Gutierrez left the scene and has not been arrested, police said.
According to police, the incident happened Monday night before 9:30 p.m., near 75th Avenue and Golden Lane.
"During an altercation, the male subject assaulted the victim, and she was left laying the roadway," police said.
The vehicle that hit Gutierrez was driving southbound on 75th Avenue.
Police said the driver remained on scene throughout the investigation, and there is no indication that speed or impairment played a part in the incident.
The roadway was closed for several hours as police investigated the crash, and reopened Tuesday morning at 5:10 a.m.
