Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run crash in Phoenix

Police said that the crash happened early Tuesday morning and the vehicle involved drove away from the scene of the crash.

PHOENIX — A man is dead after a hit-and-run crash in Phoenix early Tuesday morning. Police are still looking for the driver involved.

According to early reports, the man was struck shortly after 3 a.m. near 19th Avenue and Van Buren Street. When officers arrived, they found the victim with serious injuries.

First responders took him to a hospital where he later died, officials said. His identity hasn't been released at this time.

"The vehicle involved in this collision took off from the area after hitting the man," a Phoenix police spokesman said.

The roadway was temporarily closed for the investigation but has since reopened. Police have not named any potential suspects at this time.
