Man arrested after shooting woman in face during burglary in Navajo County, police say

Police arrested Omari Hernandez, 18, in connection to the shooting.

SNOWFLAKE, Ariz. — An Arizona woman is in critical condition after being shot in the face during a home burglary in Navajo County, according to officials.

The Snowflake-Taylor Police Department said the shooting happened at 6 a.m. on Saturday at an apartment near West 3rd and Main streets in Snowflake.

The victim, who has not been identified, was rushed to a local hospital and then transported to a Phoenix hospital for treatment, police said. She is currently listed in critical condition.

Police arrested Omari Hernandez, 18, in connection to the shooting. 

Police said Hernandez lived in a nearby apartment. After a standoff that lasted around 30 minutes, he surrendered to police.

Hernandez is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and first-degree burglary.
