MOHAVE COUNTY, Ariz. — A detention officer at the Mohave County Jail was arrested Monday for bringing heroin into the jail, the Mohave County Sheriff's Office said.
The county's narcotics task force received information that a detention officer was bringing the drugs into the jail. Detectives questioned the officer, 24-year-old Ashley Aquino on Monday evening.
Aquino admitted to bringing inmates heroin and other contraband.
When jail staff executed a search for the drugs, MCSO said the heroin had already been disposed of by inmates before the searches began. But, other contraband was found.
Aquino was arrested for promoting prison contraband, a felony.
