Police believe missing Flagstaff woman was killed; husband arrested

Kelly Paduchowski's vehicle was found at Campbell Mesa Trailhead on Sunday, police say.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Flagstaff police believe a woman who hasn't been seen since Sunday was the "victim of a homicide," officials said Tuesday.

45-year-old Kelly Paduchowski's husband told police she was last seen Sunday when she left her home for a run and a swim around 1:30 p.m., police said. He contacted police around 7:40 p.m. Sunday evening and reported her missing.

On Monday, Flagstaff police said they arrested Kelly Paduchowski's husband, Daniel Paduchowski, 58, for aggravated assault in the case after speaking with witnesses and the woman's family.

Police gave an updated timeline in the case on Tuesday:

  • Kelly Paduchowski's phone pinged near Schultz Creek Trail around 10:30 a.m. Sunday, police said, and Daniel Paduchowski was seen in the same area at 11:30 a.m.
  • Kelly Paduchowski's cell phone then pinged at the home she shared with Daniel Paduchowski at 12:13 p.m., police said.
  • Kelly Paduchowski's white Mazda CX-5 was found at the Campbell Mesa Trailhead at 1:30 p.m., police said. Police also have surveillance images that reportedly show Daniel Paduchowski at the same trailhead in the same timeframe

"This investigation is ongoing and the number one priority is to locate Kelly, however, based on current evidence and information it is believed that Kelly may be the victim of a homicide," Flagstaff police said in a statement.

Kelly Paduchowski was last seen wearing black shorts, a gray shirt, and white running shoes. She is described as 5'08", 138 lbs, with blond hair and blue eyes.
