Mesa police arrest 2 suspects for Walmart shooting

MESA, Ariz. — The Mesa Police Department has detained two suspects who were allegedly involved in firing gunshots at Walmart employees on June 17.

At about 9 p.m. on Monday, officers were dispatched to the Walmart on Dobson Road in the Riverview complex for reports of a disturbance. Officers learned Walmart employees had escorted several people out of the store who were disturbing customers.

Once in the parking lot, the individuals fired several gunshots at the Walmart workers and then left in a vehicle. At least four cars were struck by the gunfire and no injuries were reported.

Mesa police said Friday that an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old have recently been detained for allegedly being involved in the shooting.
