MESA, Ariz. — Editor's note: The above video is from an earlier newscast.
A suspect was arrested Monday night for allegedly shooting two people at a Mesa hotel, killing one and severely injuring the other.
Anthony Wayne Gushee, 44, was arrested for allegedly shooting and killing 28-year-old Aaron James Miller and injuring the unidentified woman at the Windemere Hotel.
The woman told police that Gushee shot them because he thought they stole his drugs.
During a search, police found methamphetamine packaged for sale and numerous syringes containing a liquid substance.
Gushee was taken into custody without incident. When asked about the crime he requested an attorney and invoked his right to remain silent.
Gushee has a prior history of drug related offenses, Mesa PD said.
Gushee has been charged with one count of second degree murder and one count of aggravated assault.
The investigation is ongoing.
