YAVAPAI COUNTY, Ariz. — A man has been arrested in Yavapai County after multiple gunshots were fired near deputies conducting a traffic stop over the weekend, according to authorities.

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office identified Joshua Booth, 19, as the suspect involved.

Authorities said the incident happened on Saturday around 9:30 p.m. Deputies had stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of JT's Septic in Humboldt during a narcotics investigation. They were waiting for a K-9 unit when the shooting started from somewhere nearby.

"The deputies heard two gunshots from close range that were fired in their direction," the sheriff's office said in a news release.

Deputies ended the traffic stop and decided to track down where and who the gunshots were coming from.

The investigation led deputies to identify Booth as the shooter, the sheriff's office said.

Several guns along with shell casings were found on the driver's side of Booth's vehicle.

Booth was arrested and faces numerous felonies including aggravated assault and weapons charges, the sheriff's office said.
