PHOENIX — Phoenix police officers were in a West Valley neighborhood on Sunday investigating a shooting that sent a man to the hospital, the department told 12News.
Phoenix police said the shooting happened at about 12:40 p.m. on the 5700 block of North 41st Drive, which is just southeast of the intersection of 43rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road.
Police said officers learned after they arrived at the home that the man who had been shot had been taken to the hospital by family members. The man is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police were then in the neighborhood where the shooting happened for about six hours "negotiating with the neighbor suspect believed to be involved." They have now been able to take a suspect into custody and say that suspect is being interviewed by detectives.
No other details about the shooting have been released.
This is a developing story and more details will be added as they are made available.
